- Professor Lee has contributed more than 190 articles to international jornals and conference proceedigns. He has 49 patents, including 11 U.S. and 8 E.U. patents (he also has 38 patents pending). The total number of citations of his work is over 3,800 times; two of his papers in nonlinear filtering have been cited over 1,100 times; and he has five papers that have been cited over 100 times in the field of communications. His h-index is 27 (Oct., 2013, all from Google).
- Professor Lee has supervised 42 Ph.D. and 73 M.S graduates. Among the Ph.D. graduates, 3 of them work in the U.S.A., 9 are professors of Korean Universities and the rest work for Korean industries.
- While professor Lee was the Dean of Engineering, he has made major contributions to initiating new programs in the fields of display and information security and to the successful merger with Information Communication University (ICU). As the Provost, he adaopted new polices to improve the university''s education/research environment, including a TA system to guarantee graduate students'' minimum coasts of living, a program to support 4th year Ph.D students and expanding tutoring systems for undergraduate students.
- Professor Lee was the recipient of various awards including the 1997 Telecommunications Review Best Paper Award, the 2001 JCCI Best Paper Award, the 1998 Faculty Achievement Award of KAIST, the Distinguished Service Medal from the Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea (1998), a Presidential Citation from the President of Korea (2002), and Official Commendations from the Minister of Information and Communication (2003), and from the Chairman of the Presidential Commission on Small and Medium Enterprises in Korea.
