KAIST is one of the top universities in Korea; however, compared to a number of universities in Hong Kong and Singapore, many international students and faculty members at KAIST still have difficulty in communicating due to the lack of English proficiency of the Korean students. For further advancement of KAIST globally, I suggest that the students and all faculty members improve their English proficiency.

I regret not having taken courses from other majors. I believe that gaining a mind and knowledge of wide scope is of utmost importance during the undergraduate courses. If you truly want to focus on a single field of research, you could always do it in the graduate school.

Professor Dongsu Han

KAIST students should gain confidence. Despite their excellence, many of the KAIST students lack self-confidence. Be sure to contact professors and ask them a lot of questions regarding the fields in which you are truly interested. Just keep in mind that you create the future.

Professor Chun-Taek Rim

When I was working for the government, of the 600 people, I was the only graduate from KAIST. The number of the science majors in the National Assembly, media organization, other decision-making bodies account for less than 5 %. The logic and reasoning skills of science majors will elevate the level of sophistication in the aforementioned organizations.

Professor Hoi-Jun Yoo

KAIST has won the first place at ISSCC for the past three years. A number of companies such as Qualcomm, TI (Texas Instruments), IBM, Maxim Integrated have expressed their interests in KAIST students. While MIT, Stanford, and Cambridge previously excelled, KAIST will lead the world in circuit design. Be proud to be a member of KAIST and devote yourself to research.

Professor Gyu-Hyeong Cho

Nowadays, engineering avoidance can widely be observed in Korea. There actually is a statistic that shows engineers have relatively high life satisfaction. I personally believe that innovations in engineering can actually lead to the welfare of mankind.

Professor Seung-Tak Ryu

Even though a number of analog circuits are being replaced by the digital counterparts, such circuits as data converter is necessary for the interface with the digital circuits. In other words, the development of digital technologies calls for the importance of analog circuits. If you wish to major in circuits, it will be worth it.

Sunjin Kim (Fellow EE student)

Nowadays, the students’ employment trend is pretty much standardized. I personally believe that KAIST students must be the pioneers in Korea should not simply just go with the flow. Leaders must pave the way instead of following others.

Professor Seunghyup Yoo

Invest to yourself. Self-improvement is very important and you should not stop investing to yourself. Also, do not fear socializing with others in everyday life and try to have knowledge-sharing discussions with the professors, seniors, juniors, and your fellow students.

Professor Giwan Yoon

Ability to be creative in conducting a research of your interest is highly important. Further, endurance and courage, as well as rigor on yourself, are required to be a great engineer.
