‘2010 여름/가을학기 URP 연구성과 발표회’에서 우리학과

고영환 학부생(지도교수:박경수)이 우수상을 수상하였습니다.

연구내용   

A large fraction of malicious attacks on the network such as email spam, distributed
denial-of-service attack, and click fraud on web advertisements are caused by zombie
computers that form botnets. In order to fundamentally prevent these kinds of attacks,
human attestation is becoming a promising technique in the Internet. By attaching
a proof of human existence to the delivered message, the receiving end can verify
whether the content is actually created by humans. Unfortunately, current existing
techniques rely on probabilistic characteristics of attestations, require additional input
by human, and can be easily exploited by smart attackers. In this research,
we propose a deterministic human attestation based on input devices.
By placing the root of the trust on the input device itself, we bind the input events
to the content. Through human attestation,
we can deterministically identify human traffic while substantially reducing false positives
during detection. In the meantime, we retain user’s transparency and eliminate
the need for virtualization.
We separate human-generated requests from bot traffic, ultimately preventing botnet attacks.
