AI IN DIVISIONS

Overview

AI and machine learning are
a key thrust in EE research

AI and machine learning are a key thrust in EE research

AI/machine learning efforts are already a big part of ongoing research in all 6 divisions
Computer, Communication, Signal, Wave, Circuit and Device  of KAIST EE. Examples include
neuromorphic devices, VLSI hardware architecture tailored to machine learning, image/voice recognition
via deep learning, statistical inference, coding and information theory to enhance distributed machine
learning, intelligent robots, quantum information, brain imaging, etc.

Signal division

The main research interest of Signal Division of KAIST EE is to develop technologies for processing various types of signals and for electromechanical control of dynamic systems which traditionally have been accomplished by hand-crafted algorithms based on mathematics, intuition and heuristics. In modern engineering problems, the signals and systems of our interests have extremely high dimensions and data sizes as well as non-deterministic properties which bring challenges to the design of optimized algorithms. We, Signal Division of KAIST EE, develop AI technologies to challenge such problems and push the technology beyond the limit.
