Requirements and Priorities

 

1. Basic Requirements

– Demonstrated research excellence and potential for significant contributions in education and research.

– Ability to contribute to emerging disciplines, interdisciplinary research, and industry collaboration.

– Ph.D. in a relevant field (candidates expecting to earn a Ph.D. must provide confirmation of passing their thesis defense within nine months of the application date and receive the degree before the appointment date).

– Ability to teach in English.

 

2. Preferred Candidates

– International scholars and female researchers.

 

3. Grounds for Disqualification

– Ineligibility under Article 33 of the State Public Officials Act.

– Suspension or loss of civil rights under relevant laws.

– Non-compliance with military service obligations as per Article 76 of the Military Service Act.

– Employment restrictions under the Sexual Protection of Children and Juveniles Act or other legal restrictions.

– Revocation or dismissal from a public institution due to illegal employment, where five years have not yet elapsed since the date of dismissal.

– Disqualification under Article 82 of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Act.

– Up to five representative research papers (additional papers may be submitted if necessary).

– Letters of Recommendation: Candidates who pass the document screening phase will receive instructions for submission. Recommenders should send letters directly to eehead@kaist.ac.kr.

    • Three letters are required for Associate Professor or Assistant Professor applicants.
    • Six letters are required for Tenured Professor applicants.
