[ IEEE NMDC 2006 Best Paper Award on Nano CMOS Session ]
Yoo Seung-wan taking the Dr. degree courses of the department of Electrical Engineering Computer Science at KAIST was recently awarded the prize of Best Poster Paper Award at IEEE NMDC 2006 Conference.
‘IEEE NMDC 2006 Conference’ was held in Hyundai Hotel, Gyeongju, for October 10 ~ 25, 2006. During the period of the event, ‘Best Poster Paper Award’ meaning the best thesis of Nano CMOS Session, was the prize that chooses a prospective poster as to Nanotechnology materials and devices.
At that time, Mr. Yoo was honored by his thesis that Nanovolatile memory characteristics are presented with Ag nanocrystals(NCs) formed by a thermal decomposition process for a Flash memory application.

● The content of his thesis
Nonvolatile memory characteristics are presented with Ag nanocrystals (NCs) formed by a thermal decomposition process for a Flash memory application. A size of NC and a space of NC-to-NC were precisely controlled by a size-selective precipitation technique and the length of self-assembled monolayer surrounding NCs, respectively. The size and density of Ag NCs synthesized by the thermal decomposition were typically 3-5 nm and 2.7×1012 cm-2. Nonvolatile memory operations with relatively high speed and superior endurance characteristics were reported from NMOSFETs embedding metal NCs, which were fabricated by the gate last process.
