Profile:

Kuniaki Motoshima received the B.S., M.S., and Dr.Eng degrees in electrical engineering from University of Tokyo. He joined Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, where he has been engaged in research and development of long-haul WDM optical communication systems, optical subscriber systems including Gb Ethernet PON and 10G-EPON systems, and component development (such as optical amplifier repeaters, fully integrated optical transceivers, and mixed analog/digital integrated circuits). He led R&D activities in the area of communication as the general manager of Communication Lab., Information Technology R&D Center, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation from 2009 to 2011. Since 2011, he has been responsible for developing telecommunication system businesses in overseas market including submarine cable systems. He has received the 52th Shinohara Memorial Young Investigators Award in 1984 and IEICE Achievement Award in 2011.
