Overview:

An integrated photonics platform is a promising solution for future high-density and high-performance optical devices. Especially, Si photonics is one of the most successful applications for near-IR wavelength range. This platform also has the potential to be utilized for wide IR wavelength range, up to 12 μm. To achieve a high-performance photonics device, there are many components such as passive devices and active devices. Recently, an efficient optical phase shifter using a III-V/Si hybrid semiconductor-insulator-semiconductor (SIS) capacitor reported the highest modulation efficiency among only-semiconductor-based optical phase shifters. In this presentation, I will introduce hybrid SIS optical phase shifter and its recent progress.
