Overview:

I will provide in this talk a brief introduction to the fundamental theory of non-Hermitian physics, manifestation in optical systems, and recent progress toward photonic device applications. Specific topics to be treated herein are the PT-symmetric Hamiltonians, spontaneous symmetry-breaking phase transitions, topological operations near exceptional-point singularities, and their experimental realizations.
