If you were to pick the institutions that contributed the most to the development of electrical engineering technologies in Korea, one of the first institutions that are likely to come up in your mind is the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). For this fall issue of EE Newsletter, we had an interview with Sunhyung Kang, who is a KAIST Electrical Engineering alumnus and has been working as a researcher at ETRI.
Q. Please introduce yourself.
A. I graduated from KAIST with a master’s degree in electrical engineering under the guidance of Professor Joonhyuk Kang. After graduation, I joined ETRI. I hope this interview can be of help to the fellow students who are currently having problem choosing their career paths.
Q. Can you briefly introduce ETRI?
A. Ever since its foundation back in 1976, ETRI has been playing a key role as the biggest government-funded research institute in making Korea an IT powerhouse. Number of world-leading technologies such as CDMA, DMB, WiBro have been developed by ETRI.
