M.S. student Sung-hyun Kim (advised by Chan-hyun Yoon) won the Excellent Paper Award with paper “An Accelerated Edge Computing with a Container and Its Orchestrator”(Author: SungHyun Kim, Eunju Yang, and Chan-Hyun Youn) at the International Conference on ICT Convergence 2019 (ICTC 2019) held October 16-18, 2019.
ICTC, that was co-sponsored by IEEE and IEICE, is an international conference organized by the Korean Institute of Communication and Information Sciences. The conference addresses the convergence of information and communication technologies over the various industrial fields.
ICTC, organized by the Korean Institute of Communication and Information Sciences, is the international conference for the purpose of the application of information and communication technology to the industry. Moreover, ICTC 2019 was co-sponsored by IEEE and IEICE.
The paper proposed a framework to enable hardware accelerators for container-based edge computing environments. With the proposed framework from the paper, lighter weight of containers with accelerators as well as a reduction in service scheduling time through container orchestration with the accelerators were achieved.
