Profile:

Te Sun Han is Invited Advisor with National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) and Professor Emeritus at University of Electro-Communications, and also visiting lecturer at several universities in Japan. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Tokyo in 1971. After working as Research Associate at Faculty of Engineering in Univ. of Tokyo, Dr. Han began to be Associate Professor at Sagami Institute of Technology in 1975, and continued his career as Professor at Toho University, Senshu University, and University of Electro-Communications. In 1990 and 1991 he is visiting fellow at Princeton University and Cornell University. In 2010 he won the Shannon award for outstanding achievements in information theory.

His research interests include basic problems in Shannon Theory, multi-user source/channel coding systems, multi-terminal hypothesis-testing /parameter estimation under data compression, large-deviation approach to information-theoretic problems, and especially, information-spectrum theory.
