Announcement for 2016 February Commencement Ceremony

1. Date: Friday, February 19, 2016, 12:30 ~ 16:30

 

2. Venue: Lyu Keun-Chul Sports Complex(N3)

 

3. Participants

  o Graduates those who graduated on August 2015

  o Expected graduates on February 2016

 

4. Notice

1) All graduating students may arrive before 13:00 at the following places;

o Bachelor’s Degree: Auditorium(E-15)

o Master’s Degree: Chung Moon Sool B/D 1st Floor(E-16)

o Doctor’s Degree: School of Humanities &Social Science B/D(N-4), A/V Room

2) Waiting Place and Time

All graduating students should arrive at the waiting place by 12:30 ~ 13:00 to check attendance. Students who don’t confirm their attendance will not be presented individually with the diploma on the stage.

3) Notice for Attendance (Specify in the Final Report)

o Students who send notice for attendance will be presented individually with the diploma on the stage. Students who don’t send notice for attendance will not be allowed to attend the ceremony.

o The commencement ceremony is starting from 12:30 to 16:30, and you cannot leave during the ceremony.

4) Final Report Submission (Mandatory)

o Rental Fee: 10,000won

– Rental Fee payment period : 15th Feb(Mon) ~ 18th Feb(Thu)

– Rental fee should be paid under the graduating student’s name.

– You must pay rental fee first then submit your deposit slip to rental office.

6) Please make sure to update your personal information including postal address in KAIST Portal if any changes are made.

2) A commencement ceremony will be held at Lyu Keun-Chul Sports Complex(N3) and a large screen showing the commencement will be prepared in E15 for those family members who do not attend in the ceremony.

3) A commencement ticket will be distributed at the Graduation Gown Rental place (up to 2 tickets for each graduating student). Decision on further distribution of the ticket will be made on the day of commencement.

Readmission Guideline for Spring 2016

1. Applicability: Dropouts and expelled students of undergraduate or MS/PhD programs

2. Deadlines:

– Student Submission : Submit to the department office by Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
– Department/Division Review : Wednesday, December 16~Tuesday, December 29, 2015
3. Conditions for Readmission
– No more than 3 years from the date of dropout or expulsion Not including students

expelled due to expiration of the academic program time limit.
The suspension period (3 years) does not include time taken for military service

or medical treatment. (Attach supporting documents)

– Readmission is possible after 2 semesters including the semester of dropping out or expulsion.

Academic Reinstatement for the 2015 Autumn Semester

   Students expected to return to school 2015 Autumn Semester must apply reinstatement during the designated 

  period (Monday, August 3, 2015 – Monday, August 10, 2015) with approval of your academic advisor and 

  the head of your department/division on the Academic System. (According to the Academic Rules and

 “Guidance on Issuance of Certificate for Undergraduate  Students Who Failed to Meet English Requirements” 

                                                – Details-

 A. Applicability
    Students who entered the university after 1998 and obtained more than 130 credits including 9AU 

    in physical education and voluntary service (those who have satisfied the requirements for undergraduate 

    course work), but failed to meet the English requirements.

 

 B. Certificate Issuance Procedure
    Fill out the attached Application for Issuance of Certificate (applicant) ->
    Confirmation by Advisor and Department Head/ Division Chief (If necessary,
    confirmation is available at relevant college.) (Department/Division) -> Approval by Associate Vice President of     Academic Affairs and Issuance (Office of Academic Affairs/ Academic Registrar’s Team)

 

  C. Application Period: Jul. 13(Monday) ~ Jul. 17(Friday), 2015

 

  D. Issuance Fee: 500 KRW per copy

 

  E. Process for the Students Who Obtain the Certificate
     – Students do not sign up for courses, they will be exempt from tuition and supporting fees.
     – When the students meet the English requirements, he/she will be able to get bachelor’s degree on the 

       graduation date
       (according to academic calendar) after undergoing necessary procedure including review of each college. 
     – The Office of Academic Affairs (Academic Registrar’s Team) will notify the list of the students who have 

       received the certificate to the relevant colleges, and the relevant colleges will utilize the results as reference 

       data for graduation evaluations.

Research Performance Evaluation System (RPES) for Doctoral Students

1. Purpose of RPES

– The performance evaluation system is to review and assess the candidate’s progress and development, and to provide academic support.

– 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year doctoral students (Research Performance and GPA evaluation)

– Nth year (i.e. 5th year or more) doctoral students (Graduation Postponement Evaluation)

– This includes part-time, full-time, special program, and international students.

– For those taking master/doctoral-integrated program, this regulation will be effective upon your enrollment into a PhD program.

– Research Accomplishment Evaluation System for Doctoral Student is supposed to take effect from July, 2007.

– Master students are excluded from the RPES.

– Spring and Fall semester students should submit “Accomplishment Evaluation(#attached below)” and “Supplementary Documents(#attached below)” to the department by the beginning of January and July, respectively, every year.

– Refer to the attached file of “Research Performance Evaluation Lists and Standards with respect to the Doctoral Year”.

Disqualified Students from Research Performance Evaluation

– For 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year doctoral students, “Letter of Evaluation Results” will be sent to those, who are disqualified from the evaluation, and their professors.

– Nth year doctoral students will be given a “Warning Letter of Graduation Postponement”

– “Doctoral students whose GPA is under 2.5/4.3 will be sent a Warning Letter.

Notice of the Research Accomplishment Evaluation Results

– 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th year doctoral students are informed of the total score distribution of every corresponding students’ research accomplishment during the semester, both the score and the rank (%) of their own research accomplishment.

Annual Honor Roll Awards

– Respective students, whose research performance evaluation results meet the following conditions, will receive an “Annual Honor Roll Award”:

1st year doctoral students with 100 points or more

2nd year doctoral students with 110 points or more

3rd year doctoral students with 120 points or more

4th year doctoral students with 130 points or more.
