Professor Sung-Yool Choi was awarded the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Research at the 13th International Nanotech Symposium & Nano-Convergence Expo (NANO KOREA 2015).
Choi’s receipt of the award is in recognition of his research team’s development of transfer process and synthesis technique of graphene and 2-dimensional semiconductor devices, which is expected to open up the possibility of graphene commercialization.
The awards ceremony will be held on July 1st at NANO KOREA 2015, and will be reported in a number of press outlets on the same day.

Professor Jinwoo Shin received the 2015 ACM Sigmetrics Rising Star Research Award.
Established in 2008, ACM Sigmetrics Rising Star Award is bestowed annually on a young scientist – within 7 years after receiving one’s Ph.D. degree – and it was given to Prof. Jinwoo Shin this year for his influential contributions to the theoretical analysis in the fields of stochastic queuing networks and graphical models.

3 Ph.D. students in Prof. Joungho Kim’s research group – Yeonje Cho, Hongseok Kim, and Chiuk Song – were awarded the 2nd prize in student demo competition at IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference.
Their demonstration consisted of a WPT system, of which the efficiency was doubled with the use of meta-material of negative permeability.
