Prof. Soo-Young Lee won the ICA unsupervised learning award at the SPIE defense security sensing conferenc held in the Orlando, USA, on the Apr 7th.

Besides implicit signal seperation clearly shown as its contribution to the related area in this award, the ICA (Independent Component Analysis) is also getting the new technology of the effective feature extraction.

 

The Scholarship is given to the best M.S students who have entered in 2010.

Gyeonghoon Kim (Advisor: Hoi-Jun Yoo) and Myeong Lok Seol (Advisor: Yang-Kyu Choi) have been awarded.
 

Scholarship is given to graduate students with outstanding research accomplishments based on the Research Performance Evaluation System.

※ Research Performance Evaluation System is being carried out each year in January (for students started spring semester) and July (for students started Fall semester).
Evaluation System is to award scholarships to students who achieved excellent performance.
 

Dongbu IP Design Contest, Best Design Award

Ph.D students Won Young Lee and Kyu Dong Hwang (Advisor: Lee-Sup Kim) won the Best Design Award at Dongbu IP Design Contest.

Title: 5.4Gb/s Transceiver for DisplayPort version 1.2

Dongbu IP Design Contest sponsored by Dongbu Munhwa Foundation was held with IC Design Education Center (IDEC). This contest had received the papers from last April, and KAIST and POSTECH including 18 universities and 41 teams had submitted proposals for semiconductor designs.

The best thesis award 2009 was given to the Ph.D student, Jin-Woo Han (graduated in Jan 29, 2010), thanks to his advisor Yang-Kyu Choi.

Title : Unified Random Access Memory with Nanowire and Energy Band Engineering

Ph.D student, Lee Eun Yu(Advisor : Youngsoo shin), won the best TA teaching award for the fall semester 2009.

Subject : EE306 Digital system design and experiment

The certificate of the best TA with some prize money was adjudged to her. Congratulation.

The Ph.D student of EE, Won Young Lee (Advisor: Lee-Sup Kim), received the best design award of the Korean conference on Semiconductors in the chip design contest.

Title: An Adaptive Equalizer for Display Interface

Ho yong Seo, a graduate student (M.S) of EE (Advisor: Prof. Ju-Jang Lee), received the young author award in international symposium on artificial life and robotics held on Feb 4-6, 2010

Title : Object Recognition Algorithm using Vocabulary Tree and Pre-Matching Array

At the 16th Samsung human awards, the electrical engineering department again won the special awards for winning the most awardees and submitting the most papers.
The total number of award offerd is 13, consisting of two gold prizes, three silver prizes, seven bronze prizes, and one encouraging prize.
