Our department student, Chung Sock Choi (PhD) and Sung Il Ahn (Research Professor) (Advisor: Kyung Cheol Choi) received an outstanding poster paper award in IMID 2009

Title: The compact size piezoelectric transformer to lower an operating voltage of plasma display devices

 

The team UbiKA, one of the parties in EE, won the best prize at UFC (Ubiquitous Fashionable Computer) contest 2009.
This contest organized by KAIST SDIA and KING computing was held under the name "Dynamic My Life with Wearable Computer"

Kang Wook Lee (Advisor: Sae-Young Chung), one of undergrade students in EE, receivied Korea Young Talent Award 2009. What is "Korea Young Talent Award"? Purpose: Korea Young Talent Award aims to dig out creative, excellent talents for Korea’s leading a knowledge-based society and an advanced country, and to encourage thier self-esteem as national human resources. It spreads national consensus for valuing a wide variety of general skills and comprehensive knowledge.

 Background: To overcome the uniform, performance-oriented society, it is needed to find and award wise, kind, and strong individulas with balanced knowledge, people-oriented, and highly desirable. For knowledge-based society’s national competitiveness, it is essential to discover and nurture the young with growth potential and creativity

 

		KAIST EE graduate students Changhun Yun and Hyunsoo Cho  (advisor: Prof. Seunghyup Yoo) received an outstanding poster paper award in IMID 2009* for their work on high-efficiency OLEDs based on multilayer transparent electrodes developed in Integrated Organic Electronics Lab (IOEL).

* International Meeting on Information Display (IMID) is an international conference featuring the cutting-edge technologies for information display and is organized by the Korea Information Display Society (KIDS), Korea Display Industry Association(KDIA), Display Search, and the Society for Information Display (SID).  IMID, which began in 2001, has rapidly grown to host more than 2,000 participants from countries worldwide. 

 

KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office) Commissioner Award in campus IP strategy universiade

Jung, Min-Wook (MS course, advisor: Shin, Young-Soo) was awarded KIPO commissioner award for the preceding development area.

The contest gropes for the problems and solutions of the preceding development. In order to scout for talented persons, it has been held since the last year.
In this year, 68 universities and 2028 candidates were participated. From the 1st report screening in May, 2nd and 3rd screening were progressed for 2 months.

▲ Prof. Ra Jung-Woong

The Ministry of education, Science, and technology and KOSEF announced prof. Ra Jung-Woong as an awardee of the 8th Korea engineering.

The Korea engineering award is the representative award conferred to an engineer who achieved brilliant exploits in Korea. Prof. Ra’s achievements have been widely recognized such as the experimental discovery of resonant-scattering which could find the 4th tunnel from the North Korea.
