Students of electrical and electronic engineering, Lee Hun Keun (unified Master’s and Doctor’s course)(Advisor: Lee, Chang-Hee), received the Best Paper Award for a recently published paper in Photonics Conference 2009.

Title : Implementation of a multicast network for a video signal based on a low-cost injection locked F-P LD WDM-PON
 

Soo-Young Lee, an EE department professor, earned an Outstanding Achievement Award from the APNNA (Asia-Pacific Neural Network Assembly) for her research achievements in understanding the mechanisms of information processing involving the brain and its engineering applications. The APNNA started in 1994 as a council for neural information processing research in the Asia and Pacific regions, and it has played a central role for research such as holding the annually ICONIP (International Conference on Neural Information Processing).   Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, India, Thailand, and many other countries make up the growing representive institution of brain science and engineering in Asia and Pacific regions.  Moreover, it is in connection with INNS (International Neural network Society) in USA, and the ENNS (European Neural Network Society) in Europe.

Since 2004, the APNNA Outstanding Achievement Award and the APNNA Excellent Service Award have been granted to only a few special applicants. Especially, the  Outstanding Achievement Award is awarded once a year to one hornorable researcher for his or her life-long work.
So far, Shun-ichi Amari, a chief in RIKEN Brain Science Institute, and Kunihiko Fukushima, inventor of the Neocognitron, neural network model, have won this award.
This award was presented at the ICONIP2009 in Bangkok, Thailand on December 1-5.

		Intermational Workshop on Flexible & Printable Electronics 2009 The 1st IWFPE 2009, our department students Hyunsoo Jo and Changhoon Yoon (Advisor: Seunghyub Yoo) won the best paper award (2nd Prize) International workshop for exchange and development of technologies on flexible & printed electronics, co-hosted by Ministry of Knowledge Economy and Jeollabuk-do province and co-organized by KIDS, KPEC and IDRC

Changhee Lee, professor of electrical and electronic engineering, has been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) The IEEE has more than 360,000 members in 150 countries around the world. Among them,IEEE Fellows constitute less than 0.01% of IEEE membership.  Being named a Fellow is one of the organization’s most prestigious honors.   for contributions to wavelength division multiplexed-passive optical network

 

The students of our department, Sangkewon Na (PhD) and Jaemoon Kim (PhD) (Advisor: Jongmin Kyoung), won the best design award at ISOCC (International SoC Design Conference) 2009 .

Our department students (PhD) Bong-Chul Kim, Seong-Wook Choi (Advisor: Gun-woo Moon), and Ki-Bum Park (Advisor: Myung Joong Yoon) have been awarded the best paper 2nd prize in the International Telecommunications Energy Conference 2009.

The graduate student of our department EE, Joohee Kim (MS) (Advisor: Jungho Kim), won the best student paper award at EPEPS 2009 (18th Electrical Performance of Electronic Pachaging and Systems) Title: Through Silicon Via (TSV) Equalizer 2009/10/21, Embassy Suites, Portland (Tigard), Oregon

Award for an excellent laboratory selected by Research Labs’ Safety Campaign!!
In the contest, [Award for the best lab. of safety manegement] or [best mottos, posters, and pictures for lab safety], organized by graduate students’ union for preventing from careless accidents and inspiring safety awareness,
