Introduction

Graduate students are divided according to the type of scholarship selected at the time of admission.

There are three types of scholarship: Government-sponsored scholarship, KAIST scholarship, and General scholarship.

It is possible to change the status from the Government-sponsored scholarship to KAIST scholarship or General scholarship.

Government-sponsored Scholarship
The Government-sponsored scholarship which is the most common scholarship in KAIST, Korean government supports the educational expenses. It must be applied at the time of admission. It is not possible to change the status from KAIST scholarship or General scholarship to the Government-sponsored scholarship. Students who were selected as Government-sponsored scholarship Scholars receive monthly salary of teaching assistance activities during semesters.
KAIST Scholarship
KAIST scholarship is divided into a case of receiving the support of educational expenses under the discretion of a professor, in the case of receiving the support of educational expenses from the company in collaboration with KAIST. In the former case, the professor will promise the monthly salary for the tution fee. You should consult with the professor in advance. SK Hynix, LG Display and Samsung semiconductor company are in colaboration with KAIST. Each name is called KEPSI, LGenius, and EPSS, respectively.
KAIST Program Scholarship
KAIST Program Scholarship students receive educational expenses from the linked companies such as SK Hynix, LG Display and Samsung Semicunductor. The respective programs are called KAIST KEPSI, KAIST LGenius and KAIST EPSS. The students of these programs will be classified as KAIST Scholarship as well.
General Scholarship
There is a scholarship program that receives the support of educational expenses from the company not in collaboration with KAIST. It is also called industry-university scholarship. In this scholarship, students receive the monthly salary and the amount of money for tuition partially. Some students have an appointment with the company already, or other students(more than two semesters) may get this scholarship through the interview of the company after admission in the status of other scholarship. After graduation, there is a duty working in the company for a promised period.
