EPSS
Introduction
EPSS was founded in August 2005 to cultivate human resources who will become the forerunners of the semiconductor technologies and the integrated circuit designs with the joint efforts of six departments in KAIST and with the sponsor of Samsung Electronics. This program directs its efforts to establish successful collaboration model between industry and university.
Admission
    Available Programs : Master’s (Ph.D. admission happens right after getting your Master’s)
    Available Departments : School of Electrical Engineering, School of Computing, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry,
    Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
    Applicant Requirements : Same as the KAIST Scholarship requirements (However, there must not be grounds for disqualification
    for the employment into Samsung Electronics)
    ※ Priority selection to women and those who have completed military service
    How to Apply : Apply as a “EPSS-KAIST” student when applying for a graduate program
    ※ To be admitted, the applicant must apply for employment into Samsung Electronics and attend the resulting job interview.
    Application Schedule : Same schedule applies as that for the KAIST graduate school application.

Lab Assignment : Priority assignment into EPSS research fields
Research Funding : Equivalent to that of the Government-sponsored Scholarship, given to the associated lab
Monthly scholarship funding (※ Funded separately by the affiliated company)
Guaranteed employment to the affiliated company
Education
For an optimal and tailored learning experience, EPSS developed a “Semiconductor Major” and gives students the chance to acquire degrees in both the enrolled major and the semiconductor major. Students are also given real-world industry experiences during and after the completion of the degree through job opportunities.
