Fall 2016 Laboratory Assignment for Newly Admitted Master’s Student

Greetings,

Congratulations on your admission to Master’s program at the KAIST School of Electrical Engineering.

Please refer the followings for 2016 Fall Laboratory Assignment.

 

1. Lab Assignment Period: 2016 June 17 (Fri) ~ 2016 June 27 (Mon)

– Please visit the department website to get the information about your prospective advisors, labs and research areas. (Department Website: https://ee.kaist.ac.kr)

 

2. National Scholarship Recipients

– Every professor can have one National scholarship recipient. (Inquire in the office for exceptions)

 

3. KAIST Scholarship Recipients

– KAIST scholarship recipient can be assigned to one of the following professors only.

*Professors: 김용대 (Yongdae Kim), 김훈(Hoon Kim), 노용만 (Yong Man Ro), 박경수 (KyoungSoo Park), 박동조 (Dong-Jo Park), 박효훈 (Hyo-Hoon Park), 유회준 (Hoi-Jun Yoo), 윤찬현 (Chan-Hyun Youn), 장래혁 (Naehyuck Chang), 최준균 (Jun Kyun Choi)

 

4. Process:

– Please contact and have a meeting with your prospective advisor to get confirmation

 

5. Submit the documents by Monday, June 27, 2016

(1) If you have confirmation from your prospective advisor (lab):

– Get the form for “Laboratory Assignment Confirmation ([첨부1] 연구실 배정 확정서) from the department office, and submit it to the department office with your prospective advisor’s signature on it.

 

(2) If you don’t have any confirmation from your prospective advisor (lab):

– Submit the Form 2. Advisor Assignment Application in the attachement ([첨부2] 지도교수 배정 신청서)

 

6. Result of the laboratory assignment:

– It will be announced on the department’s website (https://ee.kaist.ac.kr) on 30th June (Thu).

Readmission Guideline for Fall 2016

Refer to the instructions below on application for readmission in Fall 2016

 

A. Eligibility: Dropouts and expelled students of Undergraduate or Graduate programs

 

B. Deadlines:

– Submission by students: submit to the department/division office by Thursday, June 16, 2016

– Evaluation by Departments/Divisions: Friday, June 17 ~ Thursday, June 23, 2016

– Submission of Departments/Divisions evaluation result to Academic Registrar’s Team : Thursday, June 30, 2016

 

C. Conditions for Readmission

– No more than 3 years from the date of dropout or expulsion.

– Students who belong to the following categories are not eligible for readmission .

– – Those who are expelled for exceeding enrollment duration limit (Up to students enrolled in 2008).

– – Those who are expelled for exceeding enrollment duration limit or who are expelled or voluntarily withdraw after getting enrollment duration limit extended (Starting from student enrolled in 2009)

※ The suspension period (3 years) does not include time taken for military service or medical treatment (needed to attach supporting documents for proof)

5) Academic Transcript

6) Proof of military service or medical condition as outlined in Article 55-5 of Academic Regulations (if applicable)

 

E. Others

– Previously earned credits will be automatically recognized without any additional procedure.

– Requirements for graduation will be unchanged from the date of initial admission.

– The number of enrolled semesters will be counted from the date of initial admission.

– Students readmitted after expulsion will be expelled upon receiving an academic warning.

– Students expelled due to failing the qualifying exam must pass the exam within 1 year(including the period of taking a leave of absence except maximum 1 semester) of readmission, or will face expulsion again if requirements are not met.

– Students can be readmitted only once and will be accepted to the original academic year or lower.

– Tuition for readmitted students shall follow the rules on “Imposition of Tuition fees”.

Announcement For Doctoral Dissertation Proposals

Students should submit the Request for Appointment of Doctoral Dissertation Review Committee to the department office 15 days prior to the review.

 

1. Review Period

– Within 2 years of admission (for integrated program, within 2 years from starting of PhD)

 * If the deadline has passed, submit the Report on Delay of Doctoral Dissertation Proposal and Explanatory Statement by Advisor

 

2. Doctoral Dissertation Review Procedure

1) Submission of Request for Appointment of Doctoral Dissertation Review Committee to the department office 15 days prior to the review

* Write down the prospective time, date and location of the review and submit the documents to the department office 15 days prior to the review

* If the committee includes external professionals, please write their email address in the form.

2) Submission of Result of Oral Defense of Doctoral Dissertation Proposal to the department office

 

3. Organization of Doctoral Dissertation Review Committee

The committee consists of five full-time professors from relevant fields. The president may appoint two full-time faculty of other departments or external professionals (including part-time faculty).

Notice for Graduate pre-assessment (Aug 2016)

Student scheduled to graduate in August 2016 is required to submit Graduate pre-assessment sheet to department office. Students who completed 130 credits (including Spring 2016) should submit the pre-assessment sheet to istina@kaist.ac.kr (Sung Ae Je) by Monday, February 22, 2016.

* The title of email should be: “2016 August Graduate pre-assessment (Student ID, Name)”

* Please reply us back if you are a graduation candidate but not graduating in August 2016.

Announcement for Student Scholarship from KAIST Alumni Scholarship Foundation

To: 2nd year undergraduates in EE (in Spring 2016)

 

If you are interested in the student scholarship funded by KAIST Alumni Scholarship Foundation, please submit the application form to the department office later than Friday, February 19, 2016.

 

1. Eligibility

1) 2nd year undergraduate students in Spring 2016 who enrolled in the second semester

2) Low Income Family Scholarship: Students in financial hardship (single-parent family, Grandparent-Grandchildren Family)

3) Scholarship for Excellence: Students with excellent potentials

4) KAIST Alumni and Student Association Scholarship: For ones who actively participated in KAIST Alumni/Student Association activities, For ones who actively worked for Student Union.

 

2. Amount of Scholarship: 4 Million KRW / year (excluding time taken for military service, leave of absence or expulsion)

2016 Spring “Yoon-Kim Research Scholarship” Announcement

Academic Reinstatement for the 2016 Spring Semester

 

  Students expected to return to school 2016 Spring Semester must apply reinstatement during the designated 

  period (Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 – Friday, Feb. 5, 2016) with approval of your academic advisor and the head of   

  your department/program on the Academic System. 


 (According to the Academic Rules and Regulation Section 4, Article 34, returning students failing to register or 

  to pay their tuition fees during the registration period are subject to dismissal from their program.)
