Readmission Application Deadlines and Procedures for Fall 2015

 1. Applicability: Dropouts and expelled students of undergraduate or MS/PhD programs

 2. Deadlines:
     – Student Submission : Submit to the department office by Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
     – Department/Division Review : Thursday, June 18~ Wednesday, June 24, 2015 

 

 

 3. Conditions for Readmission

      – No more than 3 years from the date of dropout or expulsion Not including students

      

        expelled due to expiration of the academic program time limit.

        The suspension period (3 years) does not include time taken for military service

 

           or medical treatment. (Attach supporting documents)

      – Readmission is possible after 2 semesters including the semester of  dropping out or expulsion. 

Submission of MS and PhD Dissertation Evaluation Result Report and Graduation Assessment

        MS and PhD candidates who will graduate in August this year should submit both the Dissertation Evaluation Result Report and Graduation Assessment as follows.

 

1. Guidelines for submission of the Graduation Assessment

 Date: Before May 22(Fri), 2015

    – Those who have not submitted a Pre-Screening Form for graduation must do so as soon as possible.

    – Those who have submitted the Pre-Screening Form but made changes in class registration must resubmit.

 Place to apply: EE Office

 Note:

     – The Ethics and Safety class and the Leadership Seminar must be completed. After completion please report to Sunyoung Park at heru@kaist.ac.kr or at 042-350-3403.

     – If graduation is delayed after the graduation assessment is completed, please inform Sunyoung Park,

heru@kaist.ac.kr or at 042-350-3403.

     – The English name written on the Graduation Assessment will be printed on the official diploma

 

2. Guidelines for submission of the Master’s Dissertation Evaluation Report

 Evaluation Request : Before May 22(Fri), 2015 the Master’s Dissertation Committee and Evaluation Schedule

must be submitted to the EE Office (See attachment).

 Evaluation Period : June 15(Mon) – 19(Fri), 2015

   – In case of any exceptions, dissertation evaluation can be done between June 1(Mon) – 26(Wed), 2015

 Dissertation Evaluation Result Report Submit it to the EE office by July 3(Fri), 2015

    (The comprehensive exam and the dissertation evaluation are on the same date)

  

3. Guidelines for submission of the PhD Dissertation Evaluation Report

Evaluation Request : Submit the Request for the Evaluation for the Doctoral Degree Form

                                to the EE Office no later than 15 days before the Dissertation Evaluation (File attached).

Evaluation Period : April 30(Thurs) – May 29(Fri), 2015

Evaluation Result Reports Submit it to the office by June 4(Thurs), 2015

    (The comprehensive exam and the dissertation evaluation are on the same date.)

    Documents

       – Doctoral Dissertation Evaluation Summary Form_1 form from each dissertation committee member(File attached)

       – Dissertation Evaluation Result Reports and Comprehensive Exam Result Report(File attached)

       – Publication Announcement and 3 pages from the accepted Journal article(title page + the next 2 pages)

(Journals approved the by school of EE only)

       – Multiple authors (if 5 or more) contribution form (File attached)

       – External evaluators (including part-time) must submit the Request For Payment Form(File attached)

 

4. (Printed)Theses submission period

   1) MS: July 9(Thurs) – 10(Fri), 2015 or before

   2) PhD: June 11(Thurs) – 12(Fri), 2015 or before

    1) MS:

    Number of copies : 3copies (2 hard bound ones, 1 soft bound ones)

                                  2 hard bound copies must be signed and 1 soft copies also have to include

the photo-copied signed page.

    The Agreement to Disclose Electronic Dissertations Form should be submitted with printed copies.

 Thesis title and certificate name spelling confirmation: check the attachment and notify the EE office by replying when changes must be made.

Things to note

    1) Final printed version should have the same title as the one for Dissertation evaluation.

       (Please contact the EE office if the title is not the same.)

    2) Printed theses are normally open to public, but if you have a special reason to keep it private,

        you can submit the form(refer to the attached file) with the signature from the advisor.

* For the students who changed or canceled any of the courses this semester, submit the PRE-SCREEN document once again.

* For the students who have not made any changes or withdrawals on any of the courses this semester,

just visit the department office to verify without the PRE-SCREEN document.

* Double-check the English name to be printed on the diploma and state whether the student would be attending the graduation ceremony.

                                                  – Note –


 1. Presentation schedule and time :

   – Presentation dates: 4/3, 4/10, 4/17, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29

   – Time slots: 10:30-12:00, 13:00-14:30, 14:30-16:00, 16:00-17:30

     (2 presentations per slot, 30 minutes per person, Q&A 5~10min)

   – Your thesis advisor need to attend the seminar where you are presenting.

      Therefore, check the schedule of your advisor also and indicate the date/time

      that does not work for you and your advisor.


 2. Presentation contents:

   – Recommend to present the material that will be presented in your Ph.D defense.

     Some confidential materials can be excluded.

   – Please discuss with your advisor on the title and content of your presentation

     before completing the attached form.


 3. Things to note

   – Presentation must be done in English.

   – Ph.D students expected to graduate in August 2015 must do the presentation

     this Spring semester.

     (Students who have done the defense before Spring 2015 must give a

      presentation also in this semester if they graduate in August 2015)

   – Students who are not sure whether to graduate in Feb. 2016 or Aug. 2015

     must give a presentation this semester. Otherwise, the students cannot graduate

     in Aug. 2015.

Academic Reinstatement for the 2015 Spring Semester

  Students expected to return to school 2015 Spring Semester must submit a reinstatement application form during the designated period (Wednesday, January 7, 2015 – Thursday, January 13, 2015) after obtaining signatures of your academic advisor and the head of your department/division. The students should register for courses during the same period, and pay tuition fees during 2015 Spring semester registration period(Monday, February 2, 2015 – Friday, February 6, 2015).(According to the Academic Rules and Regulation Section 4, Article 34, returning students failing to register or to pay their tuition fees during the registration period are subject to dismissal from their program.)
