A Gathering of KAIST Venturers, TEKA

In the late 1990s, when there was a venture boom in Korea, a number of KAIST alumni got together to form a group of venture entrepreneurs named “TEKA”. The name TEKA is short for TEHERANRO KAIST. Teheran-ro, translated as Teheran Boulevard, is a street in the Gangnam district of Seoul, where many venture companies experienced their rise and fall in the 90s. .

Q. Can you introduce TEKA?

A. TEKA is established in 1999 by Jaeryun Kwon (currently CEO at Korea M&A). TEKA consists of venture entrepreneurs who graduated from KAIST. Back in the 90s, when there was a venture boom in Korea, a group of KAIST alumni got together to attract venture investors and share information about venture companies.

Q. What are the main activities of TEKA?

A. Most of our members have their hands full at the moment, so we are not looking to carry forward a new business. From time to time we have meetings in a small group of 20 to 30 people to talk about our businesses.
